Don't know what else they did but police seem to have targetted the wrong people, confiscating a relatively small number of sun-beds belonging to a few Stoupa residents & frequent visitors that were there for their & their friends' free use & not for hire & at no disadvantage to the local businesses. This has not addressed the intensive coverage of both beaches by local businesses, sometimes at extortionist rents (although it beats me why anyone would pay such sums). The end result is unchanged - the beautiful beaches are obscured by them, one cannot see the sea & it's difficult to pick a path to the sea without risk to the head. All in all, this has changed the nature of the resort for the worst & the action by the police seems to have done nothing to check it. Great shame.

Unfortunately the Police had no alternative as the sunbeds left on the beach were regarded as rubbish and not owned by any authorised sunbed provider therefore they had no choice but to remove them and destroy as they were illegally left on the beach.

Hoping for some clarification on this matter. Can visitors bring their own sunbeds to the beach on a day by day basis if they are removed each evening?

Of course it is not a problem on a daily basis, however to leave them overnight is not advisable as the sunbeds that were confiscated were left padlocked on the beach so were regarded as illegal. Whilst it is upsetting for the original owners if everybody did the same the beach would look even more of a mess.
