Mobility Scooters

Post by MikeK » Tue May 01, 2018 3:19 pm

Hi, an elderly relative with restricted mobility will be visiting Stoupa in late June/July, is it possible to hire a mobility scooter in Stoupa to help them get around the village? Thanks

As far as I am aware there is no outlet for mobility vehicles in Stoupa I believe there may be one in Kalamata. If you are trevelling on an organised holiday then maybe contact your travel company to see if they can help.

In the street next to Kalamata hospital, there is a store that deals in surgical appliances...Both for sale and hire as far as I am aware. (Crutches, oxygen etc. etc) Think they may also have some mobility scooters ?

All airlines will carry mobility scooters free of charge. The airline needs notifying in advance and its user must drive the scooter through the airport to the gate. There the motor must be disengaged for free-wheeling by the airport staff to place it in the hold. At Kalamata, the scooter would be best dismantled for the onward transfer by car or bus.

Hope this helps.

another option is to hire one in the uk and take it out with you, there are several places you can hire from, some breakdown very easily into 3 or 4 pieces so it can all fit into a boot of a car easily, if you need more info on models etc pm me or email me as I work in the NHS/local government and know a lot about all mobility equipment.
regards
