Good news about the early booking of Easy jet, But hopefully we will also be getting more options to fly into the Peloponnese soon, it was announced on 16 September that Tripoli airfield will be open to civil aviation traffic in 2015, and already the "No-frills airlines" are showing a big interest.
The conversion of the military airfield into a civil airport is expected to take the strain off Kalamata Airport in the southern Peloponnese, which this year recorded a 54 percent increase in passenger traffic.
The region’s chief Mr Tatoulis said the next step for the region is to present an action plan for upgrading the airport of Kalamata and to develop the infrastructure for the cruise industry.
All good news I think

Terry have heard through the grapevine that Easyjet will be flying 4 times a week from Gatwick to Kalamata for July, August & September 2015 do you know if this is likely. As you already know they have increased the number of flights published for April & May from 2 to 3. If there are to be 4 flights this is also good news for visitors and residents.

Don't know about the increase in flights, but the times of the flights have changed for next year. Now leaving Gatwick at 14.40 and return from Kalamata is 21.00. Not good for some people.

But it does make it possible for people not near London to get to Gatwick by public transport in time for the 14:40 departure. The 6.a.m timing did not work for those. As trains no longer run through the night, it involved travelling to Gatwick the day before. Not at all good and I will never do it again! Gatwick does not even have seats on the landside. I used to think the old Athens airport was poor for comfort.

BA runs a flight to Kalamata on Sundays but it is a charter by Neilsons and seats cannot be bought except as part of a package. I hope BA will realise the potential of this route and offer a scheduled service instead in the future.

In the meantime, travel on one service out and another return. These days, I rarely travel with the same airline in both directions. Recently I seem not even to travel in "two directions" but rather take the most economic hop to the next location! Optimised hand-luggage makes everything possible.

I welcome the 14:40 Tuesday departure. I would not return on the 21:00!

Tim.

still got to wait 12 days before I can book our September flights...Boo

However those times are awful !!! I don't mind doing the early flight and early afternoon flight back as perfect becaue we live in the SE, 30 misn from Gatwick !

But what it does do with these extra flights is let us stay for 10 days instead of 7 or 14 as before, more time there but less time off of work.....

Can I say something please? Instead of having complaints about the new schedules you can also say that you are able now to stay 17 days....
