Retsina in the UK
We regularly have a bottle of retsina with a Greek-ish meal on a Saturday night. However today we found that our local Sainsbury's appears no longer to stock it. Does anyone know where else to find it? It was Kourtaki for around £5.50 for 70ml bottle.

Hi Arnaki! I think you can still order it from Sainsburys online.

Thanks Feathers -
We've never done internet food shopping. I had always thought that supermarket on-line shopping collects the items from your local supermarket. However we'll try that. Kourtaki isn't the best but travels well, and seems to be the only one imported at a reasonable price.
If we don't get some, we will "pine" for Greece all the more during winter.

And here's another source, if you're interested in online ordering (delivery's a bit expensive though!):

Ooh - you've started something now! I've been looking at all the Greek wines on the website....

Their warehouse is an amazing place, not far from us so everything's readily available. Veeeery tempting!

Enjoy!

Cambs is rather too far from Manchester, even for wine. But if I'm in the area, I'll be there buying crateloads! Thanks for the information.

My local Sainsbury's in Stockport had it in stock on Saturday - I made a point of checking when I was there after reading this thread> Of course I couldn't just check, could I ? so I bought a bottle to make sure - went down a treat too. (would have been even better it I had been drinking it in Steki's watching the sun go down

Thanks Delphinia. We'll keep an eye on the shelves and bob to Stockport if necessary. Sorry if I forced you buy retsina. It must have been an awful sacrifice

Don't feel guilty Arnaki - it was like drinking nectar (although I know Retsina is not to everyone's taste -like Marmite
) The Sainsbury's in question is the one in Stockport town centre. I did note the stock had been moved down to the bottom shelf from where they had been historically on the top shelf. Now just longing for 2nd July returning to Stoupa - unpack, shower and straight down to Steki for our first giros and a glass or two of Retsina - happy days
